The Telangana Industry Awards recognise the best businesses in the State across six categories. For the fourth consecutive year, the Government of Telangana has leveraged the GlobalLinker platform to host these annual awards for SMEs, right from the application to  judging process. And today we are revealing the winners in the category of Best Innovation.

 

But first, here is what some of the illustrious jury members have to say about the participating businesses and selection process.

 

It is heartening to see the industrial growth in Telangana through companies which are not only innovative but also have sustainability built into their fabric. The future belongs to such companies which not only create wealth for themselves but are also socially responsible.

Best Innovation Winners

 

Gold - Bharat Biotech
India's first indigenous COVID-19 vaccine by Bharat Biotech is developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Virology (NIV). The indigenous, inactivated vaccine is developed and manufactured in Bharat Biotech's BSL-3 (Bio-Safety Level 3) high containment facility. The vaccine is developed using Whole-Virion Inactivated Vero Cell derived platform technology. Inactivated vaccines do not replicate and are therefore unlikely to revert and cause pathological effects. They contain dead virus, incapable of infecting people but still able to instruct the immune system to mount a defensive reaction against an infection.

 

Silver - Skyroot Aerospace Pvt Ltd

Skyroot Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. is a start-up founded by former ISRO scientists, with a specialized team having a combined experience of over 400 years in the Aerospace industry. Established in 2018, Skyroot Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. became the first Indian private company to build and test multiple home-grown rocket engines. They make rockets lighter, faster and more efficient by using various advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D-Printing and ultra-high strength carbon composite materials. They have successfully tested a majority of our components and systems, particularly our RAMAN liquid propulsion engine and KALAM-5, a solid propulsion engine. They have also successfully manufactured a 100% 3D-Printed Cryogenic rocket engine named Dhawan-1. Being 100% made in India using a superalloy, this is a revolutionary approach to building the most complex rocket engines, besides being a highlight innovation of Skyroot. 

 

Silver - Sensa Core Medical Instrumentation Pvt. Ltd.

Sensacore’s innovation in our industry is the introduction of non-existent products (5 so far) locally manufactured at affordable prices. It is very important to have local manufacturing to keep the control over the pricing. Sensacore is the first Indian manufacturer to mass produce the Glucose meters and strips that are indigenously Manufactured (not procured from China under private label). Sensacore embarked on the path to bring the Glucose meter (less than Rs, 480) and strips (less than 9 rupees to the end user) that are affordable and are accessible to everyone. Sensacore’s Glucometer and strips are adapted by Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi PariYojana Kendra and is available in 4000 stores nationwide as the most affordable Glucose meter.

 

Bronze - Optimus Drugs Pvt. Ltd.

 Optimus Drugs is an R&D driven pharma company. They have created Favipiravir which is an oral antiviral drug used for treatment of mild and moderate COVID-19 infections. The drug is to provide rapid decrease in viral load within four days, along with quicker symptomatic and radiological improvement. Favipiravir demonstrated up to 88% of clinical improvement in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19.
