A useful anecdote when it comes to training people: A CEO and CFO were chatting in their office discussing the ROI they were getting from their employee training programs. CFO: "What happens if we invest heavily in training people and then they leave?" CEO: "What happens if we do not invest heavily in training people and then they stay?" You have to assume you have the best people, plan for attrition and focus on training as a part of your process/ strategy. The ROI will show eventually.

How are companies using HR tech today? According to an Adrenalin eSystems survey of 200 HR Heads, 52% say these use it to manage talent (performance appraisals, training), 21% say it is the HR analytics piece, 15% percent use it to engage employees (employee comment boards, social media, advertising achievements, events etc.) and 12% find tech useful in recruiting.
